Erlking

Erlking is a poem by Johann Von Goethe. The poem has been set to music by several composers. but most notably by Franz Peter Schubert.

An anxious young boy is being carried at night by his father on horse back.  The time is unusually late and the weather unusually bad for travel. It becomes apparent that the boy is delirious and the father is rushing him to the medical aid. the son seems to see and hear beings  his farther does not.  but the chooses to comfort his son. the child sees a wisp of fog, rustling leaves, shimmering willows. but  finally , the child shrieks that he has been attacked . the father rides faster. so unfortunately the boy is dead. so this is the story of this song.

The song is sung by a single vocalist with the strong piano backing.

So this is the one of my favorite song.
