An opera is a drama sung to orchestral accompaniment. It includes acting, dancing, scenery and costumes. Here the story is revealed through song, rather than the spoken dialogue in ordinary dramas

The singing is divided between a soloist or a group of soloists. And the text of the opera is called 'The libretto' and is usually written by a librettist or dramatist, and it is set to music by the composer.

A song for a solo voice with orchestral accompaniment is called 'The Aria.

Mozart , Wagner , Verdi , and Bizet are some of the versatile composers of the opera.

Before the term Jazz was used Ragtime was the popular name for this style. Scott Joplin was one of the leading exponents of the performance of Rag. One of the first Rags to be notated by him is "The Maple Leaf Rag". "The Entertainer" was also composed by Scott Joplin. Which is a very popular piece of music today. There are different types of Jazz styles. Namely Swing, Be-Bop, Ragtime, Blues, Retrospective Jazz, Boogie woogie, Free Jazz, Jazz rock etc. The famous jazz musicians were Scott Joplin, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong , Charlie Parker, Ornette Coleman and Benny Goodman

Erlking

  Erlking is a poem by Johann Von Goethe. The poem has been set to music by several composers. but most notably by Franz Peter Schubert. An anxious young boy is being carried at night by his father on horse back.  The time is unusually late and the weather unusually bad for travel. It becomes apparent that the boy is delirious and the father is rushing him to the medical aid. the son seems to see and hear beings  his farther does not.  but the chooses to comfort his son. the child sees a wisp of fog, rustling leaves, shimmering willows. but  finally , the child shrieks that he has been attacked . the father rides faster. so unfortunately the boy is dead. so this is the story of this song. The song is sung by a single vocalist with the strong piano backing.  So this is the one of my favorite song.
